about

IS

Himinglæva is an independent sequel to my first album, Hefring. In Nordic mythology, Hefring and Himinglæva are the daughters of the sea goddess Rán, and the giant Ægir, king of the ocean. Rán and Ægir have nine daughters in total and their names all evoke qualities of the ocean. The songs on Himinglæva were composed and recorded between 2012 and 2016.
The lyrics in Haustið Nálgast, Tunglið and Vorið Kemur, are by Stefán frá Hvítadal (1887-1933). The lyrics in Sofðu nú are an old Icelandic prayer told to children.
The children who sing the backing vocals in Sofðu nú are my niece and nephew.

DE

IT
